Since its inception, Rais has been producing ground-breaking woodstoves designs that set the standard worldwide. The company first came into fruition in response to the oil crisis that gripped Denmark in the 1970’s. Since then, Rais has excelled at creating the cleanest, most efficient stoves, year after year. At Greenovations, we always prefer high quality, domestic or locally made products, but when it comes to woodstoves, there is no domestic equivalent. Even in matters of style, there are few stoves out there to match the modern flair of a Rais woodstove.

A well designed and correctly operated woodstove can be one of the most environmentally friendly forms of energy available. When fired properly, burning locally sourced dry wood is CO2 – neutral. Rais stoves are an exceptionally suitable heating choice here on the Seacoast for their efficient use of a locally available and renewable resource, wood. Rais utilizes materials, knowledge and trends in new ways to meet today’s demand for highly efficient and environmentally friendly wood burning stoves. Rais has reduced the emissions of particles from all its stoves through years of developing a unique firebox. A system of baffle plates channels airflow inside the firebox to complete combustion and minimize particle emissions. Rais stoves have EPA approval for particles emissions (PAH) and several of their stoves carry the coveted Scandinavian Swan Eco-Label. In fact, their emissions are so low that their standard cinder tray isn’t much deeper than a baking sheet.

Rais stoves feature stay cool handles. Air combustion is drawn into the handles so you can grab it with your hands even with a big fire. Several models use an “air wash” system that keeps the window glass clean. As well, soapstone top plates and baking trays are standard in some models and optional with others. Soapstone Models clad on the side with soapstone are available, too.
